First of all, I'm not an expert :) 
Solution 1:
If external batery is used, connect all GROUNDS together.
So the GROUND on your board is connected with the external energy GROUND.

Solution 2:
Supply more Ampere. It can be that your servo needs a bit more power. 
DO NOT GO HIGHER IN VOLTAGE. Make sure to supply more AMPERE
than your servo needs (check your servo specifications).

Solution 3:
Check in your code if you give the correct period (PWM) to your servo.
If your PWM is too low or high, it could jitter.
